Tata Gr To Give Rs1 Cr To AI 171 Victims’ Families


Tata Group will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical's hostel.

Mumbai, June 13, 2025: In a statement on AI 171, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Air India, has said: “We are deeply anguished by the tragic event involving Air India Flight 171. No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured.

Tata group will provide Rs 1 crore to the families of each person who has lost their life in this tragedy. We will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support. Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical's hostel.

We remain steadfast in standing with the affected families and communities during this unimaginable time.

N Chandrasekaran, also Chairman of Tata Sons, in an earlier statement, had said: “With profound sorrow I confirm that Air India flight, AI 171 operating Ahmedabad London Gatwick was involved in a tragic accident on Thursday. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this devastating event.

At this moment, our primary focus is on supporting all the affected people and their families. We are doing everything in our power to assist the emergency response teams at the site and to provide all necessary support and care to those impacted.

Further updates will be shared as we receive more verified information. An emergency centre has been activated and support team have been set up for families seeking information.”
