Maharashtra leads in data center and fintech sector

Mumbai, February 25, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that the state government is accelerating the administration and economy through technology and artificial intelligence (AI) and that the state of Maharashtra will soon lead India's AI and technology revolution.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was interviewed by NASSCOM's Srikanth Velamkanni at the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Summit at Hotel Grand Hyatt.

Chief Minister Mr. Fadnavis said, the level of digital services has increased in the state and most of the government services have become available online. The state government has set up an AI Center at Mumbai University. An Industry Center has been set up in partnership with the World Economic Forum.

Chief Minister Fadnavis said, Maharashtra has set a target of taking the economy to 1 trillion dollars. For this, a new economic roadmap is being prepared in collaboration with NITI Aayog. He said that efforts are being made to make Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMRDA) the hub of the 1.5 trillion dollar economy.

Maharashtra leads in data center and fintech sector

60% of the country's data centers are in Maharashtra. A data center park is being set up in New Mumbai, and by 2030, 50% of the state's electricity generation will be based on green energy. He also said that Mumbai is the 'Fintech Capital' of India.

Nashik Kumbh Mela; Use of cutting-edge technology

Nashik will host the Kumbh Mela in 2027. State-of-the-art measures will be taken for crowd management, security, and virtual experiences. He also praised the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for successfully organizing the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh.

The use of technology in the agricultural sector will be increased.

Chief Minister Shri. Fadnavis said, efforts are being made to double the income of farmers with the help of technology in agriculture. Under the 'Agri-Stat' initiative, the entire agricultural process is being digitalized. Under the 'Drone Shakti' program, there is an intention to reduce the cost of agricultural spraying by providing drone training.
