Mumbai, 06 October, 2026: Following the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, India is set to play a prominent role at G20 Investment Week in Miami this December. Hosted by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute (SWFI), the week features a dedicated India program aimed at connecting Indian growth opportunities with global sovereign, pension, and institutional funds to drive US$50 billion in direct investment.

Running alongside the official G20 Leaders’ Summit chaired by President Donald J. Trump, the I20 Summit will bring institutional allocators from every G20 and allied nation together in Miami. The India program will feature project presentations from central and state governments, public sector enterprises, and leading private enterprises across twelve core asset classes.
Lakshmi Narayanan Ramanujam, SWFI Chairman, said: “India is the fastest-growing large economy in the world, yet remains significantly under-allocated by global sovereign capital. G20 Investment Week provides a singular platform to place investment-ready Indian projects directly in front of the world's largest fund leaders. A US$50 billion investment target is a realistic first step given the immense scale of India's growth pipeline.”
The India program will feature curated investor briefings and deal-room presentations across core growth sectors. These sessions will highlight key opportunities in infrastructure and energy (roads, ports, rail, renewables, green hydrogen), manufacturing and tech (semiconductors, defense, PLI sectors, AI compute), real assets and financial services (logistics, REITs/InvITs, GIFT City, digital public infrastructure), and healthcare and life sciences (pharmaceuticals, hospital networks, medtech).
Proposal for a US$100 Billion Indian Sovereign Wealth Fund
During the announcement in New Delhi, SWFI also outlined a strategic case for India to establish its own US$100 billion sovereign wealth fund.
Lakshmi Narayanan Ramanujam, SWFI Chairman, said: “India possesses the foreign exchange reserves, economic momentum, and domestic project pipeline necessary to anchor a fund at this scale. Establishing a US$100 billion sovereign fund would position India not merely as a destination for global capital, but as an active co-investor alongside global peer funds.” SWFI will present its research and proposal regarding the fund's framework during the Miami sessions.
