UPI transactions volume fell by 1.8% and UPI transactions value fell by 1.5% in September 2026 on MoM basis

Mumbai, 01 October, 2026: UPI processed 2,407 crore transactions valued at Rs 29.37 lakh crore in September 2026, as per the latest data released today by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
UPI had processed 2,451 crore transactions valued at Rs29.82 lakh crore in August 2026.
It clearly shows UPI transactions volume fell by 1.8% and UPI transactions value fell by 1.5% on MoM basis.
UPI transactions value was Rs29.88 lakh crore in July 2026. So, the fall in UPI transactions value has continued in September 2026 too.
NPCI data shows both UPI transactions volume and value have increased by 23% and 18% respectively in September 2026 on Y/y basis.
AePS Monthly Volume And Value Down
AePS monthly volume and value also fell in September 2026.
Aadhaar-powered, interoperable digital financial transactions volume and value in September 2026 is 95.78 Mn and Rs23,734 Cr respectively. AePS monthly volume and value in August 2026 were 104 Mn and Rs26035 Cr respectively.
AePS volume fell by 10% y/y and value fell by 13% y/y in September 2026.
IMPS Data: Mixed Signals
IMPS Volume and value were 354Mn and Rs7.06 lakh crore respectively in September 2026.
IMPS monthly transactions value is marginally up but volume is down in September 2026, as against the August 2026 figures (360 Mn and Rs7.04 lakh crore respectively). IMPS transactions value is up by 18%, but volume is down by 10% in September 2026 on Y/y basis.
