India Giving Day 2025: The Next Chapter in Galvanizing More and Better American Giving to India
Alex Counts of IPA and Yamini Mishra of the MacArthur Foundation discuss the upcoming India Giving Day 2025 campaign, an initiative by the India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) to increase American philanthropy to India, especially among the Indian American diaspora. Launched in 2023, IGD has already raised millions for nonprofits active in India and aims to raise at least $7.5 million in 2025. The campaign is rooted in Gandhi’s philosophy of trusteeship, encouraging the wealthy to use their resources for social welfare. It incorporates recommendations from key reports, focusing on peer-to-peer fundraising, youth engagement, and public education about philanthropy’s impact.
