Patel Launches GCC Of Infineon Technologies At GIFT City


The launch of the Global Capability Center will enhance Gujarat's ability to deliver semiconductor solutions on both national and global levels

Mumbai, March 25, 2025: The launch of Gujarat’s first Global Capability Center within just a month of announcing the Global Capability Center Policy is a remarkable example of the state’s commitment to building a Viksit Bharat. While inaugurating Infineon Technologies India’s new Global Capability Center at GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that the establishment of this Global Capability Center at GIFT City marks a new chapter in Gujarat’s technology sector. This centre will strengthen Gujarat’s ability to deliver semiconductor solutions to both the nation and the world.

In the presence of the Chief Minister, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Infineon Technologies and IIT-Gandhinagar to collaborate on industrial research, technology development, innovation, and talent development.

On this occasion Dr. Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, presented the approval letter for financial incentives under Gujarat Government’s Global Capability Center Policy 2025-30 to Infineon Technologies CEO, Mr. Jochen Hanebeck.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel further said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has placed special emphasis on critical technologies like AI and semiconductors to empower the country’s technology sector. Under the guidance of the Prime Minister Gujarat is progressing in the same direction. As a result, new technologies and innovations will play a pivotal role in becoming the backbone of Gujarat’s economy in the years to come.

He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi India is swiftly progressing towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy.. With the world’s most affordable intellectual workforce, India’s fast-growing knowledge-based economy serves as a prime example of this advancement.

Today, Gujarat stands as the only state in the country where three semiconductor plants are set to be established. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel expressed his confidence that India’s first Make in India semiconductor chip will also be produced in Gujarat.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that Gujarat is the first state in the country to prepare a roadmap for "Viksit Gujarat @ 2047" with the mantra of "Earning Well, Living Well" to achieve Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of creating a Viksit Bharat. The Gujarat Government has prioritized the inclusion of global capability centres, AI, and innovation-based sectors under the Earning Well framework.

Speaking about Gujarat's significant contribution to India's development, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Gujarat contributes 8.3% to India's GDP, 18% to national industrial output, and 31% to total exports, making it a leader in industrial excellence, innovation, and global integration.

Mr. Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies, said that India is rapidly emerging as the semiconductor hub of the world. Gujarat, with its industry-friendly policies, is playing a vital role in the semiconductor sector, akin to the heart of India. The Global Capability Center of Infineon Technologies, established in Gujarat, will accelerate India's growth further. He also expressed gratitude to the Gujarat government, stating that in the next five years, Infineon will employ 500 professional engineers in Gujarat.

Mr. Vinay Shenoy, Managing Director of Infineon Technologies India, extended a warm welcome to everyone at the beginning of the event. He expressed his gratitude to the Gujarat government for providing substantial  benefits and support to Infineon under the "Global Capability Center Policy 2025-30."

Chief Advisor of Chief Minister and Chairman of GIFT City, Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, along with Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT-Gandhinagar, and senior officials of the Gujarat government, as well as representatives and employees of Infineon Technologies, were present at the event.
