CBI Apprehends GST Superintendent In Bribe Case

Mumbai, January 27, 2024: CBI has apprehended a superintendent of GST while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs20,000.  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Superintendent of GST, Rourkela, Odisha in a case of bribery. 

A case was registered against the said Superintendent of GST, Rourkela on allegations of demanding bribe of Rs50,000/- from complainant for correcting the erroneously fixed GST liability of Rs8 lakh of the complainant to Rs.3.5 lakh.   It was also alleged that after negotiation accused agreed to accept partial bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- as first instalment. 

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting partial bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the residential premises of accused at Rourkela, Odisha.
