CBI laid a trap on 06.01.2026 and caught the accused Branch Manager and the Private Person red-handed while accepting a bribe

Mumbai, 8 January 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Branch Manager, Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, Berta, Makhauda Dham, Basti, UP and a Private Person, who was working as Peon in the same Bank, while accepting a Bribe of Rs10,000 from the complainant, as per a press release issued by the CBI today.
CBI registered the instant case based on a complaint on 05.01.2026. The complainant alleged that he had applied for a loan of Rs5 lakh from Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, Berta, Makhauda Dham, Basti, UP under CM Yuva Udhyami Yojana. The said loan was sanctioned and Rs2,72,000 was disbursed to him, however, the Branch Manager of the said bank demanded an undue advantage of Rs15,000 from the complainant through the private person for disbursing the remaining amount of the loan. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs10,000 from the complainant. CBI laid a trap on 06.01.2026 and caught the accused Branch Manager and the Private Person red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant.
Both the accused have been arrested and will be produced before the Competent Court.
