Mumbai, May 25, 2025: India has become the world's 4th largest economy, edging past Japan, said Shri BVR Subramaniyam, CEO, Niti Aayog. Shri BVR Subramaniyam was addressing the media on Saturday. He, along with the Vice Chairman of Niti Aayog, Shri Suman K Bery, addressed a press conference on the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at National Media Centre, in New Delhi on May 24, 2025.

Shri BVR Subramaniyam cited the data of the IMF. “India has overtaken Japan to become 4th largest economy. India is now US$ 4 trillion economy as per IMF’s latest data. India may become 3rd largest economy in next 2 to 3 years, if we stick to what is being planned,” Subramaniyam added.
