Mumbai, 23 December, 2024: Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan today participated in the Kisan Samman Din and Farmers and Rural Development Beneficiary Conference organized at the Agricultural Research Council - Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute in Pune on the occasion of National Farmers Day 2024.
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized Kisan Samman Diwas and Farmers and Rural Development Beneficiary Conference at ICAR-Attari, Pune on the occasion of National Farmers Day 2024. The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, several ministers of the Maharashtra government and senior officials of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
In his speech, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that 13 lakh 29 thousand 678 houses have been sanctioned for Maharashtra in the financial year 2024-25 under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin Plus'. Its survey work has been completed and now the final list is being made, these additional houses will be provided in Maharashtra. The government is committed that no person should be deprived of a permanent house and the government is working accordingly. A total target of 19 lakh 66 thousand 767 houses has been set for construction in Maharashtra in the financial year 2024-25. A total expenditure of Rs. 29501 crore is expected for this. He expressed the hope that the newly formed state government will be able to fulfill this target within the stipulated time. On this occasion, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to be given the target of building the most houses.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government is making every effort to provide the benefits of this scheme to those people who did not get the opportunity to join the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or whose names are not in the survey list of this scheme. He said that earlier those who had two-wheelers and telephones were deprived of this scheme, but now all such people will get the benefit of a house under the 'Awas Plus' scheme. According to the new survey, now people in the 15 thousand monthly income group and those with more than 5 acres of unirrigated land will also be able to get the benefits of this scheme.
He said that his government is very sensitive to women empowerment. A target has been set to create 3 crore "Lakhpati Didi" across the country. While appealing to stop the uncontrolled use of pesticides in agriculture, he said that switching to natural farming is the need of the hour and we have to take this forward with full potential.
The Agriculture Minister also said that we need to develop such technology that can irrigate more with less water.
