The Flight Data Recorder (Black Box) has been recovered within 28 hours from the accident site in Ahmedabad by AAIB.


Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Ahmedabad on Friday in the wake of the tragic plane crash that claimed numerous lives.

Mumbai, June 13, 2025: Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Minister of Civil Aviation of India, today said: “The Flight Data Recorder (Black Box) has been recovered within 28 hours from the accident site in Ahmedabad by AAIB. This marks an important step forward in the investigation. This will significantly aid the enquiry into the incident.

Mr Naidu accompanied Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the crash site in Ahmedabad today and briefed him on the incident, current rescue operations, and the steps being taken by civil aviation authorities. He added: “We are ensuring every possible support to the affected families. A thorough investigation is underway and all efforts are being made to uncover the cause of the incident.”

Following the tragic incident in Ahmedabad, a formal investigation has been initiated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), in line with international protocols set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Additionally, the Government is constituting a high-level committee comprising experts from multiple disciplines to examine the matter in detail. The committee will work to strengthen aviation safety and prevent such incidents in future.

Modi met those injured in the plane crash

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Ahmedabad today in the wake of the tragic plane crash that claimed numerous lives. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Shri Modi met those injured in the aftermath, including the lone survivor, and assured them of the nation’s unwavering support during this difficult time. 

PM also chaired a review meeting at Ahmedabad Airport with top authorities to assess the ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

In separate posts on X, Shri Modi stated:

“Met those injured in the aftermath of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, including the lone survivor and assured them that we are with them and their families in this tough time. The entire nation is praying for their speedy recovery.”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the passing of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani, who tragically lost his life in the recent Ahmedabad air disaster. Shri Modi highlighted Shri Rupani’s distinguished career, recalling his contributions across various roles, including his tenure in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, as Rajya Sabha MP, Gujarat BJP President, and as a Cabinet Minister in the state government.  

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the loss of numerous lives in the tragic air accident in Ahmedabad . He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the immense pain and loss they are enduring.  

Earlier today, Shri Modi visited the crash site in Ahmedabad to assess the situation firsthand. He met with officials and emergency response teams working tirelessly in the aftermath of the disaster.
