Democratizing Tech, Investment In Digi Infra Will Be Discussed At World Economic Forum

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr Devendra Fadnavis has landed at Zuric Indian Ambassador to Switzerland Mridul Kumar extended a warm welcome to CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis as he landed at Zurich on Sunday. Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Kumar Singh too was present on this occasion.

Mumbai, January 19, 2025: Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, will be participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 at Davos. His visit highlights India’s commitment to driving inclusive growth and transformative development, as envisioned by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi.

India’s model of Inclusive Growth

Before departing to Davos, Shri Vaishnaw emphasized India’s significant strides in ensuring development for all sections of society, particularly those historically left out of progress. “The Prime Minister of India has focused on inclusive development that brings transformative changes in the lives of those at the bottom of the pyramid. From financial inclusion through bank accounts to providing essential services like toilets, gas connections, tap water, and improving infrastructure in both rural and urban areas, this is something which the world wants to understand”, he stated.

The Union Minister mentioned that the will be a detailed discussion in the World Economic Forum about inclusive growth, about the investment in social, physical and digital infrastructure and on democratizing technology.

India’s Digital Revolution in Spotlight

Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, ahead of his departure to the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, emphasized the global interest in India’s transformative digital journey under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. “The world is keen to understand India’s economic policies, the digital transformation brought about by the Digital India programme, and the way technology has been democratized to empower citizens across all strata of society,” the Minister stated.

India’s innovative digital architecture, developed as part of the Digital India initiative, has set a global benchmark for leveraging technology to drive inclusive development, a key focus of discussions at the forum.

India’s participation in WEF 2025 aims to strengthen partnerships, attract investment, and position the country as a global leader in sustainable development and technological innovation.

With WEF 2025's focus, India is at the forefront of exploring solutions across the five key workstreams—Reimagining growth, Investing in People, Rebuilding trust, Industries in the Intelligent age, and Safeguarding the Planet. With an emphasis on fostering international partnerships and driving sustainable innovation, India’s participation at this prestigious gathering underscores its commitment to shaping a brighter, more interconnected future.

The Indian delegation is set to present a unified and compelling vision of the country’s growth as One Nation, One Voice, led by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and representatives from the Indian Government and states. The delegation will be spearheaded by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology along with Shri CR Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri K. Rammohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Chirag Paswan, Minister of Food Processing Industries, and Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (I/C) of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

The delegation also includes high-level representatives from six Indian states — Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala — who will showcase the region’s industrial advancements, investment opportunities, and success stories as part of India’s ongoing economic transformation.

The Indian delegation will be participating in a series of panel discussions, roundtables, and Government-to-Business (G2B) and Government-to-Government (G2G) engagements at the prestigious Davos Congress Centre. The delegations will also contribute to sessions at India’s Pavilion, alongside other global political and business leaders covering the topics of Sustainability and Trust, Food Security, Economic Partnership Driving Investments, Infrastructure as Enabler, Supply Chain Diversification, Chemicals Investment Opportunity, Innovation and Technology Leadership, and AI for Process Transformation.

India will also be participating in the ‘AI and FDI: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Investment’ session, which will be co-organized by Invest India & WAIPA and supported by World Investment for Development Alliance (WIDA), a global platform of 13 organizations that create synergies and maximize impact through joint advocacy and actions, focusing on promoting sustainable and inclusive investment.
More than 65 Indian business representatives will attend the 55th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, with several Indian companies setting up Lounges to showcase their offerings. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, will play a pivotal role by organizing sessions and media panels to highlight various aspects of India’s growth story.

Maha CM Devendra Fadnavis Lands At Zurich

In the meantime, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr Devendra Fadnavis has today landed at Zurich, Switzerland for the #WEF25 'Davos Summit 2025'. 

Indian Ambassador to Switzerland Shri Mridul Kumar extended a warm welcome to CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis as he landed at Zurich.
Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Manoj Kumar Singh too was present on this occasion. Kaustubh Dhavse, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, is a part of the Maharashtra's delegation, led by the CM Fadnavis. 

CM Devendra Fadnavis was warmly welcomed in Zurich, Switzerland by the Sewa Switzerland organization. Welcome ceremony was also organized by Brihan Maharashtra Mandal Switzerland.
