Mumbai, 23 December, 2024: Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha once again assumed charge of the Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department At the Maharashtra State Skill University today. On this occasion, Minister Lodha interacted with the media to outline the department's roadmap and goals for the coming period. "I thank Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for once again entrusting me with the responsibility of the Skill Development Department," said Lodha.
He stated, "Skill development is a subject very close to the heart of our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, Honorable Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has always recognized the importance of skill development for Maharashtra and given it priority. In a short span, we will submit a roadmap for the next 100 days to the Honorable Chief Minister. Our goal is to provide employment to 5 lakh youth in the first year, and we are commencing work on this from today itself. Under the guidance of the Honorable Chief Minister, we will soon present the vision for the next five years as well."
After assuming charge today, Lodha immediately held the department's first meeting with representatives of the World Bank. The World Bank has provided a loan of Rs2,200 crore rupees to the Skill Development Department for initiatives such as skill development, upgrading government industrial institutions, and employment training. Today's meeting was organized to ensure that all formalities are completed, and the loan amount is made available to the department at the earliest.
The central government has included 1,000 government industrial institutions across India in this initiative. Minister Lodha also stated that efforts are underway to ensure that a maximum number of ITIs in Maharashtra are part of this initiative. He added that he would soon meet Union Skill Development Minister Jayant Chaudhary to discuss this matter further.
