Mumbai, January 11, 2024: During the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit's second day, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, and industry experts participated in a seminar on semiconductors and electronics. The session featured insightful and meaningful discussions.

During the seminar, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, highlighted that Gujarat, through the signing of MoUs and agreements at the first Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit of Amrit Kaal, has established a robust foundation to actualize the vision of "Viksit Bharat@2047." A green energy plant with a 30,000-MW capacity is currently under construction in Gujarat, aiming to supply environmentally friendly energy to various industries, including semiconductors, adhering to environmental conservation principles.

Praising the fast and single-window approval system provided by the Gujarat government to industries investing in the state, the Union Minister mentioned that companies like Microchip signed MoUs with the Gujarat government in June, and the construction work began in September, showcasing Gujarat's remarkable commitment. In 2024, Microchip will begin manufacturing semiconductor chips in Gujarat, presenting the country's first 'Made in India' semiconductor chip right from Gujarat itself.

For establishing a strong semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of developing skills and placing a considerable focus on research and development. To facilitate this, the Minister proposed that Micron Company consider becoming a knowledge partner in establishing a Center of Excellence at IIT-Gandhinagar.

Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, affirming the establishment of a robust semiconductor ecosystem to position Gujarat as the semiconductor hub of India, mentioned that it is an opportune moment for semiconductor companies worldwide to invest in Gujarat. The day is not far off when India-Gujarat will be the 'Natural Choice' for investment by semiconductor companies globally.
