Mumbai, 30 September 2024: The ‘Ayush Medical Value Travel’ (MVT) Summit was inaugurated by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and MoS(MoHFW) Shri Prataprao Jadhav in Mumbai today.

Speaking on the occasion, MoS (I/C) Shri Prataprao Jadhav said, MVT SUMMIT program has been organized to focus on making it possible for more people from abroad to come to India for Ayurvedic treatment. The holistic practices of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) establish complete harmony with principles of health tourism which attracts people from all over the world to India. Hence, the SUMMIT will also focus on ways of providing an authentic and enriching experience to these foreign visitors, stated Shri Jadhav. He said that the discussions in the SUMMIT will focus on how foreign visitors will have ease in coming to India for Ayurvedic treatment. The MTV SUMMIT will focus on how AYUSH sector can contribute to the economy of the country, added the Union Minister of State for AYUSH (I/C) and HFW. Shri Jadhav stated that people from western countries have special attraction towards Ayurveda. “They are curious to know about Ayurvedic treatment of our country”, he said.

Shri Jadhav stated that AYUSH Ministry, which was established 10 years ago, has done significant work since its inception. AYUSH Ministry wants to do many significant works related to Ayurveda in Maharashtra in the next five years, said the Union MoS Shri Jadhav. Many new Ayurvedic colleges have been given permission to be set up in the state and seats in many Ayurvedic colleges, including PG seats have been increased, said Shri Jadhav. “These have been done so that number of good Ayurvedic Vaidyas go up in the state”, said the Minister.

MoS (AYUSH) Shri Jadhav said, more and more people should have access to good treatment through Ayurveda. In view of this, AYUSH Ministry has established Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in many villages. In the past, many posts of AYUSH doctors were vacant. “We have decided to fill all those seats this year. The advertisement for the same has been released”, he stated. He also stated that efforts are on to include AYUSH in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana so that people get its benefit and for cashless facility. Efforts taken for AYUSH medical insurance have reached in the final stage, he informed.

Shri Jadhav said that many efforts are being made to popularize AYUSH system among the people. The combination of ancient knowledge and modern medicine ensures that people have peace of mind, should the need for treatment arise, he said and added that AYUSH treatment is also about Detoxification and Rejuvenation Therapy, Stress Relief through Yoga and other AYUSH practices to provide holistic health and guide mankind in the direction of welfare.

Dr Manoj Nesari, Advisor (AYUSH), in the M/O AYUSH said, Ministry of AYUSH has signed an MOU with the Ministry of Tourism to enhance Ayush and Medical Value Travel, with support from the Indian Tourism Development Corporation. The State governments must collaborate with their tourism departments to promote Ayurvedic wellness travel and ancient sites of significance, he urged.
