163 DNA Matches Have Been Confirmed: State Government Facilitates Relatives by Proactively Providing Documents, Including Succession Document

Mumbai, June 17, 2025: So far, 163 DNA matches have been confirmed out of the blood samples taken from the relatives of the passengers and local residents of AI 171 plane crash. Of these matched DNAs, 124 mortal remains have been handed over to the relatives .
All the mortal remains that have been handed over from the Civil Hospital so far have been done with great respect and honor, and this will continue to be the practice. The Health Department has deployed an additional staff of around 855 people at the Civil Hospital, in addition to the regular staff.
In the hour of grief following the AI-171 plane crash in Ahmedabad, the state government has taken adequate care of the affected passengers' families.
To ensure that families do not face any inconvenience at any stage—from the handing over of mortal remains to the facilitation of insurance claims and required documentation—the state government has established a proper mechanism and is providing full assistance proactively in all aspects.
The administration has swiftly reached to the bereaved families to provide documents so their work with insurances companies, government or semi-government offices proceeds smoothly. The administration is proactively facilitating the issuance of documents, including the pedhinama (succession document) of the deceased, based on verification by designated commissions and witnesses.
To coordinate the process of handing over the mortal remains and maintain constant communication with the families of the crash victims, the district administration has appointed over 250 nodal officers. Supervisory officers have also been appointed to ensure that all proceedings are carried out properly.
