Mumbai, February 14, 2025: Arya.ag, India's largest and only profitable grain commerce platform, has been honoured with the 2025 Forward Faster Sustainability Award in the Climate Action category by the UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI). The award recognises Arya.ag's measurable impact in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovative, scalable interventions that enhance climate resilience, reduce food loss, and empower farmers across India.
The UN GCNI lauded Arya.ag's transformative initiatives, including IoT-enabled warehouses, AI-driven satellite monitoring, and digital platforms like PrithviPro and Aryashakti, which have benefited over 650,000 farmers and 1,300+ Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). These technologies have reduced post-harvest losses by up to 30%, minimised methane emissions through water-efficient rice cultivation practices, and promoted regenerative farming. The company's 200 SMART FPO Initiative, aimed at training 50,000 farmers in climate-resilient practices, further underscores its commitment to scalable sustainability.
Shenoy Mathew, Chief Sustainability Officer of Arya.ag, remarked: "At Arya.ag, we are proving that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand. This award validates our purpose-driven approach to building equitable value chains that uplift farmers while protecting our planet. By integrating climate-smart technologies and financial inclusion, we are creating a future where agriculture thrives without compromising the needs of generations to come."
The recognition follows Arya.ag's recent milestone of securing an INR 2.5 billion (USD 30 million) loan facility, backed by GuarantCo and HSBC India, to expand post-harvest liquidity for farmers and FPOs. This funding aligns with Arya.ag's mission to eliminate distress sales, formalise credit access, and drive transparency in India's agricultural ecosystem—efforts that directly contribute to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
Operating across 20 states and half of India's districts, Arya.ag aggregates USD 3 billion worth of grain annually while disbursing over USD 1.5 billion in loans to smallholder farmers. Its decentralised storage model has revolutionised supply chains, notably reducing aflatoxin contamination in maize and boosting incomes for farming communities.
