Kerala Bank has given loans to more than one lakh Small and Micro Enterprises

Mumbai, March 22, 2025: The activities of Kerala Bank are being closely followed in the cooperative sector and the success of this bank will give a new model for credit delivery in the rural sector, said Reserve Bank Central Board Director Satish Marathe. Kerala Bank was formed as a new experiment by merging the DCCBs of Kerala into the State Cooperative Bank. He was addressing a joint meeting of the members of the Board of Directors and Board of Management at the Kerala Bank Head Office.
Noting that Kerala Bank has given loans to more than one lakh Small and Micro Enterprises, Satish Marathe congratulated the bank for extending agricultural loans, which constituted 27 percent of the total loans.
Satish Marathe also suggested that it would be appropriate for the bank to develop new products and services to overcome the challenges faced by the rural enterprises, both farm & non farm, and to formulate policies to support agri processing.
Bank President Gopi Kottamurikkel and Chief Executive Officer Jorty M Chacko said that the visit of the Reserve Bank Director to Kerala Bank will give more impetus to the bank’s initiatives and activities aimed at economic development of Kerala.
Chairman of the Board of Management V Raveendran, NABARD Chief General Manager Baiju N Kurup, members of the Administrative Committee and members of the Board of Management also participated in the meeting.
