Mumbai, March 7, 2025: Reaffirming its commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, Punjab National Bank (PNB), nation's leading public sector bank, celebrated International Women’s Day at its corporate office in Dwarka, Delhi, and across its branches nationwide. Embracing the global theme ‘Accelerate Action’, the event highlighted the Bank’s continued efforts in empowering women across all levels through financial inclusion, leadership development, and social responsibility initiatives.
The celebration was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sunita Godara, an eminent international athlete and marathon icon, whose inspiring journey served as a beacon of motivation for all attendees. Her presence reinforced the importance of resilience, perseverance, and the power of breaking barriers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashok Chandra, MD&CEO, PNB, said: "As India moves toward a more equitable and inclusive future, PNB remains a dedicated partner in accelerating women's empowerment—because when women thrive, the nation prospers. Empowering women is not just a responsibility but a necessity for societal progress. We are committed to breaking barriers and driving initiatives that foster women’s leadership, financial independence, and social upliftment." He also announced welfare schemes for women employees and expressed his enthusiasm for their strong sense of belonging at PNB. This, he noted, reinforces his confidence in elevating the Bank to new heights by positioning women as a central force in progress. He also emphasised that supporting women not only transforms workplaces but also sets new benchmarks for society at large.
With a steadfast belief in gender equality and economic empowerment, PNB continues to support women entrepreneurs through tailored financial solutions and digital innovations. The PNB ONE BIZ App, for instance, has emerged as a game-changer for women-led SMEs, offering seamless e-banking solutions that simplify business operations. One such success story is that of Manju Singh, working with trading of construction materials in Jaipur. With the PNB ONE BIZ App, she streamlined payments, managed her accounts digitally, and accessed timely credit to expand operations.
PNB also recognises the unique financial needs of women, offering tailored wealth management solutions. From savings plans to retirement strategies, its Mahila Savings Account and investment plans provide customised opportunities for savings and growth, empowering women on their financial journey.
As part of its commitment to social responsibility, PNB has also partnered with several NGOs to support women and marginalised communities, furthering its mission of inclusive growth. Some of them include, The New Learning Heights (a special school & remedial centre dedicated to children with Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disabilities, and other special needs, ensuring access to quality education and specialised care), Uttam Jai Ram Foundation (an organisation that uplifts marginalised communities by providing healthcare, education, vocational training, and women empowerment programmes), and Well-Being Shiksha Foundation (an organisation dedicated to simplifying financial concepts for children, promoting early financial education to build a financially literate future generation).
These initiatives reaffirm PNB’s commitment to ensuring that women have access to the best financial tools for long-term security, growth, and success. Through continued initiatives, partnerships, and leadership development programmes, PNB remains at the forefront of driving meaningful change for women’s empowerment.
